How far has society to come to have a comedian tell financial news commentator that he is not doing his job well?
Building the hype for a good couple of days, Jon Stewart called out MSNBC for its failure in reporting on what the banks were doing. Additionally, Stewart called out a number of CNBC big whigs including arm-flailing, bull throwing, loud mouthing Jim Cramer, host of Mad Money.

Stewart was fair in questioning and Cramer surprisingly did very little to defend himself.
But the bigger question, how many times will the media continue to fail the public? There was failure of coverage of the Bush administration’s push for war in Iraq. There was the poor coverage of Hurricane Katrina. There was the absence of any real financial reporting during the sub prime market bubble.
What irked Stewart the most was the fact that people like Jim Cramer and CNBC knew what the banks were doing but never actually reported on any of it.
Its not Jon Stewart’s job to call out anyone or play the role of the watchdog of the media. Its simply to entertain viewers of how ridiculous the 24 hour news shows can be.
But by going forth and calling out CNBC, I have regained trust in Stewart and lost it in the conglomerate news corporations.
